Governor Cuomo Announces Projects Funded Through Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative Launching in Hempstead

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced nine projects are being funded under the Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative in the Village of Hempstead. These projects are a direct result of ESPRI, the Governor’s $25 million initiative to help 16 communities develop locally-driven strategies to reduce poverty and increase economic opportunity for all New Yorkers.

“We are empowering communities to connect people with opportunities that help move them on a path out of poverty toward economic independence,” Governor Cuomo said. “I commend Hempstead for their efforts to bring meaningful change to their community and I look forward to these programs delivering results.” Read More

Village of Hempstead Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative (ESPRI) Releases Request for Proposals

The Village of Hempstead Empire State Poverty Reduction (ESPRI), today issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Implementation of Phase II of the Village of Hempstead ESPRI for 2018-2019.

ESPRI offers community members in the Incorporated Village of Hempstead the opportunity to work together to develop and execute a plan to reduce the number of village households residing in poverty. Toward this end, ESPRI will award funding to projects that will provide supportive services for long term stability and success to improve the collective condition of residents living in financial hardship. Funds will be available in the areas of Employment & Career Readiness, Youth & Adult Mentoring, and Navigation & Resources. Read More

Village of Hempstead Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative (ESPRI) Completes First Phase of Research to Reduce Poverty

Hempstead Village is one of 16 communities in New York State chosen to be part of the ESPRI program. The completion of Phase I will soon be followed by the launch of Phase II that will ultimately award more than $1 million in ESPRI funding around the Village. Read More

Village of Hempstead Receives $1.5 Million from New York State to Reduce Poverty

The Village of Hempstead was recently awarded $1,500,000 as part of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative (ESPRI). The program empowers community members to work together in effort to reduce the number of households residing in poverty and increase the number of households with earned income above poverty. The Village of Hempstead was chosen as one of 16 communities state-wide to take part in this initiative, the only municipality on Long Island. Read More
